The Epiphyllum Anguliger is a leaf cactus and is originally from Mexico. The zig zag cactus has the ability to store water in the leaves. Normally the plant requires some water once every week. In very warm periods it’s fine to give an extra sip of water. In Winter the the Epiphyllum Anguliger uses much less energy, so therefor you can give the plant less water. Between every time you water the plant let the soil dry out completely. The plant can still use the water reserves that’s stored in the leaves. Did you accidentally forgot to water the zig zag cactus? Chances are big the plant will forgive you! Do the leaves wrinkle? Then it’s very thirsty! Put the plant in a spot with sufficient sunlight.
To give your plant an extra boost you can give the Epiphyllum Anguliger some extra plant nutrition once a month in Spring and Summer.
Can you ensure that the zig zag cactus is in the ideal conditions? Chances are that you will be treated with beautiful white flowers in the fall. For this you have to skip a night of sleep as the flowering only occurs at night!

Can’t get enough of this plant? The Epiphyllum Anguliger is very easy to propagate! Cut a piece of about 10 cm from the leaf. Let it dry for a day or two and place it in the soil. After a while this leaf cutting will grow leaf and you’ll see new leaves appear. Please keep in mind this can take several months so you can best start propagating in Spring.
