How to care for your Xanthosoma Saggitifolium ‘Frozen Planet’?
Xanthosoma like to get enough light during the day. A spot with some filtered indirect sunlight would be ideal for the plant. Watch out for too heavy direct sunlight as this might cause burn marks on those beautiful leaves.
Xanthosoma Saggitifolium ‘Frozen Planet’ will appreciate a good splash of water every now and then. If the top few centimeters of the soil is dry it’s time to water the plant. Avoid letting the soil stay too wet for too long as this may cause root rot.
The Xanthosoma Saggitifolium ‘Frozen Planet’ likes a well draining potting soil. Use a light potting mixture, combining your regular soil with some perlite and pine bark. If you don’t like the mess of making your own soil you can try using our pre-made soil mixtures, which are great for all aroids.
With a humidity level just above average your Xanthosoma will be most happy. Try keeping it at at least 60% and go up to even 80%. When the air is too dry the leaves can crisp up.
In the summer months you can fertilise the plant once every other week. In the colder and winter months no fertiliser is needed. Please always check the instructions on your own fertiliser if it has other care instructions.
Repotting your Xanthosoma can be done best at the beginning of the growing season. Depending on how root bound your plant is, it’s wise to repot your plant every year or every other year. If the plant is root bound give it a slightly bigger pot. If not, just give your Alocasia some fresh soil.
The Xanthosoma is toxic for humans and animals when ingested.
