How to care for your Schismatoglottis Wallichii?

Light

Schismatoglottis Wallichii will appreciate to stand in a spot with some indirect sunlight. The plant will also tolerate lower light conditions. However the beautiful foliage may not be so outspoken.

Water

Water your plant about once a week and make the soil evenly moist. Schismatoglottis Wallichii doesn’t like to have wet feet, this might cause root rot. If you have time, water the plant regularly with only small bits at the time.

Soil

A soil which is light and airy but can also retain a bit of water would be perfect for this beautiful aroid. Try out our Deluxe Soil mixture!

Humidity

To let a Schismatoglottis Wallichii thrive it does need a high humidity. A minimum of about 65% humidity is needed. Preferable keep the plant in a higher humidity. If you have a bathroom with some good natural light, this is the perfect plant to brighten up you bathroom!

Fertilisation

In the summer months you can fertilise the plant once every week. In the colder and winter months no fertiliser is needed. Please always check the instructions on your own fertilizer for the exact instructions.

Repotting

The best time to repot is during the beginning of the growing season. Depending on the growth of the plant in our home, repot it every year or every other year. If the plant is root bound, make sure to use a pot which is about 20% bigger than the last one. Ensuring there is enough room for new roots and eventually new leaves.

Toxicity

Schismatoglottis species are toxic for humans and animals when ingested.
