How to care for your Polyscias Hawaiiana Ming?
Light
Polyscias plant like a spot with some moderate light, or indirect light. Even a spot with partial shade would be fine. Just be careful not to put Polyscias Hawaiiana Ming in direct sun. The sunlight can scorch the plant.
Water
Watering your Polyscias isn’t too difficult, but there are differences in season. In the summer months the soil may stay a bit damp in between waterings. Watering once a week in summer should be fine. In winter time the plant doesn’t need so much water. Once the top of the soil is dry it’s time to water again, probably once every other week.
Soil
Polyscias Hawaiiana Ming will do fine in regular potting soil. For a lighter soil with some drainage, mix it up with some perlite. Polyscias make perfect plants to grow on a grit mixture.
Humidity
Polyscias will survive in any house hold or office. However, in order to let the plant thrive a bit of a higher humidity of about 60% – 70% is recommended. With a lower humidity the leaves can crisp up.
Fertilisation
In the summer months you can fertilize your plant. In the colder and winter months no fertiliser is needed. Please always check the instructions on your own fertiliser if it has other care instructions.
Repotting
We would recommend repotting your Polyscias once a year, or even once every other year. If the plant is root boud, replant it to a slightly bigger pot. If the roots are still fine, just add some fresh soil.
Toxicity
The Polyscias is toxic for humans and animals if ingested.
