How to care for your Philodendron Shangri La?
The Philodendron Shangri La loves some proper bright and indirect sunlight. Don’t let too much sunshine hit those leaves, to avoid burn marks. A spot with some more shade would also be fine, but keep in mind that the plant might not grow as fast in a darker place.
The doesn’t use too much water. Depending on your own climate, watering once a week should be all it needs. Keep the soil a bit damp between waterings and make sure the soil doesn’t dry out completely.
The plant doesn’t have many requirements. Make sure the soil has good drainage by using perlite or pot it up in a hydroponic solution.
This Philodendron Shangri La is a real though one and can survive in any home. It will flourish when the humidity is higher, ideally between 60% and 70%.
In the summer months you can fertilize to enhance the growth. In the colder and winter months no fertilizer is needed. Always check the instructions on your fertilizer bottle before using. There is so much choice and they’ll probably all have a slightly different way to use the product.
The best time to repot is during the beginning of the growing season. Check if your plant is root bound in it’s nursery pot. Then it’s time to move it to a bigger size pot of around 2 cm extra. If not, just give your Philodendron Shangri La a bit of fresh soil.
