How to care for your Maranta Leuconeura Kerchoveana?
Maranta species do best in moderate light conditions. They’ll be fine with a bit of indirect light or even a bit more shade. A place close to an eastern of even a northern facing window should be fine.
Maranta Leuconeura Kerchoveana doesn’t like to be thirsty, so water your plant regularly. Watering once a week should be fine. Keep the soil just a little bit moist in between waterings at all times.
A well draining soil mixture is the best way to go to keep your Maranta Leuconeura Kerchoveana happy. Mixing the potting soil with some perlite is a basic. Alternatively you can grow the plant in hydroponic, using anything from clay pebbles to pon or grit.
Like most aroids the Maranta likes a humid environment. For your plant to be the happiest as can be keep to humidity to at least 60%. A higher humidity of about 70% would perhaps be even better. With a low humidity the leaves of the Maranta will curl up and get crispy.
The summer months is the perfect time to fertilize your Maranta Leuconeura Kerchoveana. In winter time fertilizing is not required. When using a fertilizer always read the instructions on the bottle before using.
The best time to repot is during the beginning of the growing season. Check if your plant is root bound in it’s nursery pot. Then it’s time to move it to a bigger size pot of around 2 cm extra. Generally repotting your Maranta every year should be sufficient.
