The origin of the Kentia Palm is in Australia, to be precise: the Lord Howe Island. This palm owes its Latin name to it; Howea Forsteriana. The palm was already discovered there in 1800 and is one of the first palms that were grown especially for the living room. It is a strong and elegant plant that comes into its own in both sunny and shady places.

How to care for your Howea Forsteriana?

Light

Perferable place your Howea Forsteriana in some indirect light. Alternatively a spot with semi-shade will also do, but the plant might not grow very quickly.

Water

Watering your Dypsis Lutescens about once a week in the growing season is fine. The soil should preferable stay evenly moist. In between waterings the top of the soil may dry out just a bit. In wintertime watering can be reduced.

Soil

Dypsis Lutescens ‘Golden Palm’ will do fine in regular potting soil. For a lighter soil with some drainage, mix it up with some perlite.

Humidity

Polyscias will survive in any house hold or office. However, in order to let the plant thrive a bit of a higher humidity of about 60% – 70% is recommended. With a lower humidity the leaves can crisp up.

Fertilisation

In the summer months you can fertilize your plant. In the colder and winter months no fertiliser is needed. Please always check the instructions on your own fertiliser if it has other care instructions.

Repotting

Howea Forsteriana are not very fast growing plants. Therefore repotting regularly is not necessary. A repot once every two years should be the minimum.

Toxicity

The Howea plants are considered not toxic to animals or humans.

We co-operate with some of the best nurseries in The Netherlands. Before your plant is shipped out the nursery will check the plant and will only ship out nice looking and healthy plants. Therefore we offer a 14 day* health guarantee on all plants.

If you still think there is something wrong with your plant, whether you think the plant is not healthy, has suffered from transit or doesn’t meet the given standard regarding to pot size and hight as mentioned on the product page, don’t hesitate to contact us via support@plantdynasty.nl. Please always include: photo(s)/video(s) of the plant, a copy/photo of the packing slip and a photo of the box to your email. With this information we can evaluate the situation at best and find a solution soon. Delay in the process might occur if we don’t receive the right information at once. Or it can happen that we are unable to process the claim because we don’t have sufficient information. With the photos and information you have provided us we, together with the nursery, will decide the kind of damage and offer an appropriate solution. This decision is made exclusively by us and the nursery.

* The 14 day count starts on the day the delivery company makes the first attempt to deliver the product to your home. If a second attempt has to be made, or your package has to be send to a parcel shop for you to pick it up, these days will be deducted of the 14 day count. Therefore all claims have to be made in a written form by email, no later than 14 days after the first delivery attempt. If the customer has chosen to deliver the package at a parcelshop or it’s been delivered to a parcelshop, it must be picked up within 24 hours for the health guarantee to be applicable.

**Only damage that has occurred during shipping can be eligible for any sort of compensation. Any damaged that has been done by its new owner can never be a part of any compensation. We therefore recommend to leave the plant as it is, don’t touch it further before we’ve given a solution. If a plant has been cut, repotted or dealt with otherwise you loose any right of compensation. Compensations will not be given for reasons as ‘I changed by mind’ or ‘The plant doesn’t look the same as in the photo’ etc. 

Do I get the plant from the photo?

The photos shown in the shop are only as example. Of course we try our best to have accurate photos available. However the external condition of the plant may vary from the image shown in this page. We bear no responsibility for plants changing colors and size depending on the season. The seasonal growth changes of the plants are not considered faults or deficiencies.

What are the shipping costs?

All plants in our catalogue are shipped without shipping costs within The Netherlands. Meaning that the prices you see are the final prices. For orders to all other countries within the EU a Co2 compensation fee may apply. At the checkout this is shown in your order overview. Below you can also find an overview of this fee. Most of the plants we have in our shop are shipped in a single box. If you would be purchasing more than one plant, they’ll arrive in separate boxes most of the time. Therefore the fee is in most cases calculated per plant.

Which shipping company do you use?

All our plants will be shipped from The Netherlands with PostNL, our national postal service. Within The Netherlands and Belgium, PostNL is delivers all packages themselves. In other countries PostNL will work together with partnering transport companies to deliver the package at your home.

Our soil products will be shipped from our home office with DPD. In most countries DPD has it own network of transport. In some countries they might co-operate with other shipping companies to deliver the package to your home.

As the plants are shipped directly from the nurseries and the soil products from our home office, these products cannot be combined in one package. 

Do I get a tracking code to follow my package?

Yes, of course! Once your package is ready to be shipped you’ll receive an email with tracking code. The information in the tracking will be updated often, showing you the most recent information. On the day of delivery a ‘delivery window’ is shown, so you know when to expect your package.

How long does shipping take to my country?

Shipping time varies per countries. Shipping can take longer when the final destination is further away from The Netherlands. Please find below an indication* of shipping times:

We use our specially designed plant boxes, which holds the plant steady during transport. Because of the folding techniques from the box there is no plastic required to seal the box. The plant is fixated in the box, even when you turn it upside down!
